How to Download TikTok Videos Without Watermark
Updated May 15, 2026 · 5 min read
Saving a TikTok video to your phone or computer should be one tap, but the default workflow has rough edges: the built-in Save video button stamps a watermark across every frame, screen recording loses quality, and most generic "online savers" are clogged with popups. This guide shows you the cleanest way to download TikTok videos in 2026 — without watermark, without signup, without installing anything.
Method 1: Use a free online TikTok downloader (recommended)
The fastest method, and the one that produces a clean MP4 with no watermark. We'll use tikovo.com — free, no account, works in any browser.
Steps
- Open the TikTok app or website. Find the video you want to save.
- Tap the Share icon (the arrow in the action stack on the right side of the video).
- Tap Copy link. The URL is now on your clipboard.
- Open tikovo.com in any browser.
- Paste the link into the input box and click Download.
- The MP4 file downloads directly to your device.
That's it. The video is the original quality TikTok uses internally for playback — no watermark, no logo overlay, no re-compression.
Why no watermark?
When the TikTok app plays a video to you, it streams the original file from its CDN. The visible @username watermark you see on downloads through the official Save button is baked into a separate copy of the video produced specifically for sharing. Tools like tikovo.com request the playback URL instead of the download URL — that's why the result is clean.
Method 2: Save through the TikTok app (with watermark)
This is the official path. Quick, but the saved file has a watermark across the bottom and a moving @username overlay.
- Open the video in the TikTok app.
- Tap Share → Save video.
- The file lands in your phone's photo library.
Use this when you want to repost the video on another platform and you're fine with attribution being visible. Note that some creators have downloads disabled in their privacy settings — in that case the Save video button is greyed out.
Method 3: Screen recording (last resort)
If a video is in a region or account you can't access through normal means, screen recording works — but with real downsides:
- Quality is capped by your screen resolution, not the source file resolution.
- The recording captures your phone's UI elements unless you hide them.
- Compression and framerate are typically worse than the original.
- It records in real time — a 60-second video takes 60 seconds.
On iOS, use Control Center → Screen Recording. On Android, open Quick Settings → Screen Recorder. Save it for cases where Methods 1 and 2 both fail.
Method comparison
| Method | Watermark | Quality | Speed | Login |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Online tool (tikovo.com) | None | Original HD | Seconds | No |
| TikTok in-app Save | Yes | HD | Fast | TikTok account |
| Screen recording | None | Reduced | Real-time | No |
For most users, the online-tool route is the obvious pick: cleanest output, fastest, no login.
Saving photo slideshows (image posts)
TikTok also supports photo carousel posts. To save these:
- Copy the link the same way as a video post.
- Paste into tikovo.com.
- The result page shows every image at original resolution — tap any to save.
Saving on iPhone, Android, and desktop
The online-tool flow is identical across devices. Two small things to know:
- iPhone (Safari): after clicking Download, iOS shows a download prompt. The file lands in Files → Downloads, or in the Photos app if you tap Save to Photos.
- Android: the file goes to your Downloads folder. To move it to Gallery, copy it to DCIM using any file manager.
- Desktop: the MP4 saves to your default download directory like any other file.
Common problems
"Link failed" or parser error. The video might be private, region-locked, or deleted. Open the link in an incognito tab — if it asks you to log in or shows a 404, the video isn't accessible to anyone who isn't following the creator. No tool can route around that.
The download is a 0 KB file. TikTok's video CDN occasionally rejects requests with stale signatures. Refresh the result page and click Download again. If it persists, copy a fresh share link from the app (don't reuse a link that's been sitting on your clipboard for more than ~10 minutes).
I still got the watermarked version. Make sure you're using a tool that fetches the playback URL, not the download URL. tikovo.com handles this automatically — the in-app Save video button does not.
The video plays in the browser instead of downloading. Right-click (or long-press on mobile) the download link and choose Save link as… or Download linked file.
Is downloading TikTok videos legal?
You can download videos for personal use — saving favorite videos for offline viewing, archiving your own posts, sharing privately with friends. That sits under personal-use fair-dealing principles in most jurisdictions.
Re-uploading someone else's video to another platform without their permission is a copyright violation — the creator owns the work. Always credit them, and where possible, ask before reposting. Watermark removal does not, by itself, grant any right to redistribute.
FAQ
Does this work on iPhone?
Yes. Use Safari or any browser. After tapping Download, iOS will offer to save the file via Files or the Photos app.
Will my IP be logged?
tikovo.com is stateless — no account, no link history kept on disk. Standard web access logs exist for abuse detection only and aren't tied to any user identity. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Can I download a video that's been deleted?
No. Once the video is removed from TikTok, the playback URL stops working. There's no way around this for any tool — the file simply isn't on TikTok's servers anymore.
What about Reels and YouTube Shorts?
Both are on our roadmap — see the Instagram downloader and YouTube downloader pages for status.
Is there a download limit?
No daily limit or per-IP cap on tikovo.com. Heavy automated use (hundreds of requests per minute) is rate-limited to protect availability — normal browser use is never affected.
Why is the MP4 smaller than I expected?
TikTok's playback files are aggressively compressed for mobile streaming — that's the original file, not a downgrade. The in-app Save button gives you essentially the same encode plus a watermark.
Ready to save your video?
Open the downloader, paste the share link, click Download.
